  • The offer is valid from October 15, 2016 up to and including April 15, 2017 throughout the entire Verkehrs- und Tarifverbund Stuttgart (VVS) region on all particulate matter alarm days.

Stuttgart. moovel is again helping the residents of the Stuttgart region to stay mobile during the second particulate matter alarm season: On particulate matter alarm days, moovel passes on the cheaper prices for car2go and VVS to the users of the moovel app. Additionally, on particulate matter alarm days, moovel customers also have the chance of travelling by bus and train within the VVS region absolutely free of charge.

From October 15, 2016 until April 15, 2017, the city of Stuttgart will initiate a so-called particulate matter alarm when the weather conditions cause atmospheric pollution. On these days, moovel passes on the cheaper prices for VVS and car2go to the users of the moovel app. Additionally, on particulate matter alarm days, moovel customers also have the chance of travelling by bus and train within the VVS region absolutely free of charge. A random generator decides with each ticket purchase made via the moovel app whether moovel will bear the costs of the VVS tickets purchased. The probability that a moovel customer can travel absolutely free of charge lies at 50%. Directly after the booking, the user will be informed by a push message and in the invoice whether the booking is free of charge or not. This offer is valid throughout the entire VVS region and is only available via the moovel app.

Search for, book and pay for mobility with a single app

Multimodal mobility platforms such as moovel help make the designing of transport in cities easier and more sustainable. The moovel mobility app, which is free for iOS and Android devices, combines local public transport, the car-sharing provider car2go, rental bicycles, mytaxi, Taxi-Ruf, and Deutsche Bahn. Throughout Germany, car2go, mytaxi and Deutsche Bahn can directly and easily be booked and paid for via the moovel app. In Stuttgart and Hamburg, moovel also offers the booking and payment of local public transport tickets in the VVS and Hamburger Verkehrsverbund (HVV) directly in the app. As the first provider worldwide, moovel has created a true "one-stop-shop" for urban mobility in the two cities. "To be able to search for, book and pay for various mobility options with just one single app – that is moovel", says Jörg Lamparter, CEO of moovel Group GmbH. Booking and paying for local public transport tickets in the moovel app is extremely simple: when you search for a connection to a destination using moovel, the app automatically suggests the most suitable ticket to buy. The tickets are available in the app and can be called up online and offline for ticket inspections. Billing is easy and takes place within the app, without the customer having to register with the transport association.

Mobile-only principle: Registration and management of data by smartphone

Registration in the moovel app can be made in just a few steps directly using the smartphone. The users identify themselves using their personal e-mail addresses or Google Sign In. Users can add and manage their payment data directly in the app following the "mobile-only" principle. Hence, users can choose between payment with a credit card or PayPal. A scan function simplifies the entry of credit card details. Driver's licenses are also validated using smartphones: the user takes a photo of the front of their driver's license and then one of themselves. This means they no longer need to search for special validation points.
