Stuttgart/Barcelona, November 13, 2018. Mobility, transportation, sustainability, energy, urban planning, and safety – these are the topics of this year's Smart City Expo World Congress, which is being held in Barcelona from November 13 to 15. Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) pioneer moovel will be showcasing the latest products and solutions that help cities structure mobility more intelligently at the world's leading trade fair for smart cities in hall 2, booth 603 on more than 120 square meters.

The Smart City Expo World Congress has set itself the objective of strengthening cities and bringing urban innovation together around the world. The trade fair offers a unique platform focusing on sustainable and future-oriented urban development, allows exhibitors and visitors to immerse themselves in the world of the future, and facilitates networking. As a Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) platform, moovel offers cities and transit authorities the opportunity to boost access to mobility and thus make it more attractive. A mobility app tailored specifically to the particular needs of a city contributes to this. In addition, with its on-demand ridesharing technology developed in-house, moovel also provides the perfect complement to public transportation in the city, which can be used as an additional support especially in the evening hours – for example in Los Angeles: since October 2018, app-based shared rides in Mercedes-Benz vehicles based on moovel on-demand technology have been available in the city center of LA.

Another innovation from Daimler's wholly owned mobility subsidiary is the digital marketplace, which was launched in Berlin in September 2018 at InnoTrans, the world's leading international trade fair for transportation technology, and is now part of the product portfolio. The most important feature of moovel's new Software-as-a-Service solution is the flexible modeling of payment flows, which is particularly crucial for intermodal journeys. The state-of-the-art marketplace solution is designed to help cities and transit authorities develop into MaaS providers. Another part of the moovel trade fair stand will be the presentation of the Fare Connect solution, a pilot project developed by moovel North America. Fare Connect combines the performance of moovel's proven mobile-ticketing software with the speed and simplicity of contactless technology, thereby further simplifying access to mobility.

moovel products are used by 5.9 million people

The moovel Group is present in German cities such as Hamburg, Stuttgart, and Karlsruhe with its mobility solutions. In the US, moovel North America is the leading provider of mobile-ticketing applications for transit authorities.

"We have worked closely together with cities for many years. The Smart City Expo, seen as the world's largest event in this field, is the perfect spot to present our Mobility-as-a-Service platform. At moovel, 'Making Cities Smarter' means facilitating urban transformation and collectively creating the foundation for sustainable and intelligent mobility," says moovel Group CEO Daniela Gerd tom Markotten about moovel's presence at the trade fair in Barcelona. The concept is underscored by the company's growing figures – on October 31, 2018, moovel had 5.9 million users around the world.

moovel Group GmbH

moovel Group GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of Daimler AG, has set itself the goal of simplifying mobility in cities and improving people's quality of life. With its Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) platform, moovel offers cities and transit authorities a toolbox they can use to help integrate various mobility providers. The MaaS platform can also be used to optimize a city's traffic flow. moovel refers to this as an "operating system for urban mobility." One of the most important components of this operating system is the mobility app – an interface between cities, transit authorities, and end users. This allows users to book and pay for public transportation tickets, as well as other mobility options such as car sharing, ridehailing, and rental bikes. moovel on-demand is the moovel Group's on-demand ridesharing service that has been offered as a pilot program under the name SSB Flex in collaboration with Stuttgarter Straßenbahnen AG since June 2018. moovel North America, LLC, part of moovel Group GmbH, facilitates access to seamless, intermodal offers and networked transportation services through mobile apps. moovel is the leading provider of mobile-ticketing apps in North America that enable customers to book and pay for tickets using their smartphone.
