moovel starts first messenger bot: Local public transport information for the whole of Germany directly available in the Slack messenger

Stuttgart, 29 June 2016. moovel brings together two of the latest tech-trends: Via the moovel bot, users of the Slack messenger service can now access public transport information for the whole of Germany and also find out where all available vehicles of the car2go car-sharing provider are within a certain radius. The moovel mobility app offers users permanent access to a network of urban mobility options, most of which can be directly booked and paid for via the app.
Mobility apps, such as that from moovel, facilitate our mobility in urban areas. Messenger services, such as Slack, simplify our communication. The moovel bot combines both these trends and offers flexible mobility options on demand directly in Slack messenger. Slack users can access public transport connections for the whole of Germany and also find available car2go vehicles in their vicinity. "The classical application is a user who sits at their desk in the office and wants to know when the next bus leaves or whether a car-sharing vehicle is available close by. Slack is the ideal platform for us to test the moovel bot", says Eileen Mandir, Head of Product moovel Group GmbH. The free iOS and Android mobility app combines local public transport, the car-sharing providers car2go and Flinkster, mytaxi, Taxi-Ruf, rental bicycles and Deutsche Bahn. Throughout Germany, car2go and Flinkster, mytaxi and Deutsche Bahn can directly and easily be booked and paid for via the moovel app. Since April 2016, it has been possible to purchase local public transport tickets for the Hamburg Transport Association directly in the moovel app and tickets for the Stuttgart Transport Association have already been available since November 2015.
Using simple commands, public transport connections from A to B can be called up directly in the chat.
Using the "/moovel" command, Slack users can communicate with the moovel bot and request an overview of mobility options within a certain radius or search for a public transport connection from A to B. The vicinity search, which can be triggered using the "/moovel location" command, e.g. "/moovel Jungfernstieg", shows the user the next stop/station with the corresponding local public transport connection as well as car2go vehicles which are available close by. Using the "/moovel location A to location B" command, users can call up local public transport connections from A to B. Messenger services are becoming increasingly important and support agile work structures
A large part of the daily private and business communication already takes place via messenger services and the tendency is increasing. Messenger bots offer users the opportunity to carry out various things directly in the chat without a media disruption. For service providers, they offer an interface through which their services can be made accessible to a large user group. The Slack messenger service, with over 3 million daily active users, is being used by an ever increasing number of businesses – above all, from the start-up sector – as an office management system. moovel also makes use of it in this way.
